The sustainable fabric applications

1. T-shirt Fabrics

Commonly used materials for T-shirts include cotton + spandex, 100% cotton, 100% polyester, cotton + polyester, cotton + nylon, and rayon + spandex. The emergence of sustainable fabrics has given T-shirt fabrics more options. For example, you can replace cotton with organic cotton. If you want natural functionality such as antibacterial, odor-resistant, and UPF 50+, you can choose bamboo + spandex, bamboo + organic cotton + spandex, or tencel/modal + spandex. The proportions can be adjusted as needed, offering higher cost-effectiveness and environmental performance. At ecoprinture, you can find all the right fabrics.

2. Leggings Fabric

You probably like brands like Alo and Lululemon for yoga and sportswear, but you’ll find they’re mostly made of polyester or nylon. If you want a sustainable alternative, you can choose a three-component blend: bamboo/modal/tencel + cotton + a high proportion of spandex. The reason is simple: the first two components provide a comfortable feel and good fabric strength, while also offering many functionalities (such as moisture-wicking). The high proportion of spandex ensures the fabric’s thickness and elasticity, essential for exercise. Some might ask, “Spandex is polyester, can’t it be 100% sustainable?” While elastic natural fibers exist, they can’t match the elasticity of spandex. If you’re particularly concerned about biodegradability, you can use the recently developed bio-based spandex, corn-based creora spandex. Our spandex uses corn-based creora spandex.
