Physical Properties of Bamboo Fiber Fabric:

1. Mechanical Properties: Bamboo fiber yarn has high dry strength, superior to ordinary viscose fiber. Its wet strength can maintain approximately 70% of its dry strength, also higher than viscose fiber. However, compared to cotton or Tencel Lyocell (from Lenzing), the dry-to-wet strength ratio of bamboo fiber is relatively low, while its dry and wet elongation is smaller than viscose but higher than cotton, approaching the level of Lyocell fiber. Its mechanical properties can be enhanced through blending processes (such as blending with cotton).

Mechanical properties usually reflect its bursting strength or tear strength.

2. Moisture Absorption and Breathability: The cross-section of bamboo fiber is uneven and deformed, filled with approximately oval-shaped pores, exhibiting a highly hollow structure and strong capillary effect. It can absorb and evaporate moisture instantly. Under conditions of 100% relative humidity, the moisture regain rate of bamboo fiber exceeds 45%, and its breathability is 3.5 times stronger than cotton, earning it the reputation of “breathing fiber.”

This characteristic allows bamboo fiber fabric to quickly regulate humidity in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, improving comfort.

3. Appearance and Hand Feel: Bamboo fiber yarn has fine unit fineness and good whiteness. After dyeing, it feels smooth and soft like silk.

4. Durability and Stability: Bamboo fiber yarn maintains good antibacterial activity after multiple washes (e.g., antibacterial rate remains above 90%).

Test methods are based on: 1. Staphylococcus aureus AATCC 6538P 2. Escherichia coli AATCC 25922

5. Bamboo fiber has good abrasion resistance, but its yarn strength decreases in a wet state. High-temperature washing or ironing (e.g., above 30°C) should be avoided to reduce damage.

  • UV Protection UPF 50+: Bamboo fiber yarn also possesses natural antibacterial, UV protection (UPF value exceeds 50 (except for white), and its UV resistance is 41.7 times that of cotton), and anti-static properties. These functions originate from components such as bamboo quinone and chlorophyll in the fiber. In addition, bamboo fiber is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
